She knew the French language and spoke it well enough, but she was undeniably an anglophone. As a teacher per se of French she was okay. Her students learned the language and spoke it as she taught it. All of the rules of grammar were strictly observed.
It came to pass that some of those students traveled to France on an exchange program. They not only heard the same French language, more or less, they also lived it. The language spoken in the culture and by the people of the culture gave it the authenticity that it had lacked when it was studied out of a textbook. Now it breathed its own life in the context of day-to-day living, and it was therefore totally credible.
