Some of the most recent studies on stress and its causes tell us that it derives not only from overwork, but also from "underwork." People who are "on a roll," so to speak, moving from one accomplishment to another, get such a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment that they feel good about themselves in every way. The secret in all of this is knowing when to stop and find time for rejuvenation. Imagine Jesus rising from sleep before the light of dawn and going to a quiet place for prayer. Perhaps he was a "morning person" and it was easier for him than for others to do this. Even so, he knew when to press on actively with the mission and when to back off. Throughout his teaching ministry he certainly was "pressed," but not "stressed."
