The Son of Man is...

"The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again." Have you ever traveled on a highway and suddenly, out of nowhere, you see three crosses? I first saw this about ten years ago as I was driving through West Virginia on my way to Florida. When I first saw the three crosses, I wondered why they were there and who put the crosses there? In time, I learned that the crosses are being placed throughout the country by a retired businessman who had experienced an answer to prayer, and out of gratitude he had adopted the project of erecting three crosses throughout America. But why crosses? The cross is a symbol; it is a symbol of the Christian faith. And what is the message that is being communicated by the Christian symbol of the cross? When I see a cross I am reminded of two things. First, it reminds me of the great price that was paid for my salvation. When I see the cross I am reminded of what Jesus suffered and endured for my sins. Second, when I see a cross I am reminded of my cross, as Jesus calls upon his followers to pick up their crosses and to follow after him. And what is Jesus calling his followers to do? To love others with the same kind of sacrificial love which he has loved us. Let us be faithful as we follow our Lord's example! -- Frank
