The storm was predicted for two days. Alan's family watched it coming and reviewed
their airline tickets. Their son, Vern, was flying from Rio Gallegos, Argentina, to meet
them in Costa Rica for Christmas. They hadn't seen Vern for three years. They tried to
change tickets for another route. There was nothing. They had to fly through
Denver.
The first leg of their flight arrived successfully in Denver, then there was a six-hour layover. They scrutinized the monitor for their flight. They peered at the Weather Channel. It would be close. As they boarded, snow was falling. The airport crew was deicing the plane. They took off. In flight, the captain announced that theirs was the last out for what would probably be four or five days of blizzard.
Paul says, "I am grateful to Christ Jesus our Lord." His sense of relief and gratitude permeates and motivates his understanding of the Christian life.
