A study was recently conducted at the University of Illinois. That research found that parents who go out of their way to control their children's intake of food end up with having fatter children. It seems that when the parents make all the decisions, the children figure that they do not have to take responsibility for themselves, and as a result often overeat when the parents are not around. But most children who are given a little guidance and then left alone know how much they should eat and rarely end up being overweight. The passage calls us to holy living. But we are not given a detailed checklist as to how to do that. Instead we are given some broad guidance and trusted that we will follow the leading of the Holy Spirit to do what is right. -- Bowen
