The subject of angels is...

The subject of "angels" is a strange one. Often, people hesitate to initiate discussion on the subject, but once the subject is introduced, someone comes forth with a true "encounter" story. This is just such a story ... told by a WWII veteran.
Serving as a bomber pilot in the European theatre, Frank saw a lot of action over Germany as he flew missions out of England. During one particular mission, his squadron encountered extremely heavy anti-aircraft fire. In the midst of all the excitement, one of the gunners reported that their plane had been hit badly and suggested preparation for parachuting and ditching the plane. As he began to leave his seat at the controls, two hands grabbed Frank's shoulders from behind and pressed him back into his seat while a voice said, "You are not hit. Stay on course." Naturally, Frank looked around to see who his "advisor" was ... and no one was there. He checked with the gunner for a damage report. Sheepishly, the gunner explained the the bursting shells near the plane had given him the illusion that they had been hit. Upon further examination, he had discovered the plane undamaged. Frank and the crew then settled down and completed the mission without having to bail out over enemy territory and face possible injury or imprisonment.
Afterwards, Frank was heard to say, "You will never convince me that there aren't angels out there."
