There is an interesting story about E. P. Scott, one of the first Christian missionaries to India. One day, while traveling through a treacherous jungle area in South India, he was suddenly surrounded by an evil-looking band of tribesmen. They had their spears fixed on him and were starting to close in when, suddenly, he reached into his baggage and pulled out his violin. He began to sing the hymn, "All Hail the Power," and to accompany himself on his violin. When he reached the third stanza, which goes, "Let every kindred, every tribe," he saw an astonishing sign from God. All the tribesmen had dropped their spears, and some were crying. Scott spent the rest of his life ministering to these people.
God truly does many signs and wonders. Our experiences may be more subtle than the one of E. P. Scott. But if we pay attention, we will see them. The problems might be that we are not looking carefully enough to see the signs and wonders.
