There is nothing like the peace that comes from resting our hope in the promises of God.
It is not unlike the serenity exemplified by presidential candidate Benjamin Harrison. He took the 1888 election results calmly. His chief interest seemed to be in his own state of Indiana. When the results from the Hoosier state were safely announced in his favor, around 11 p.m., he went happily to bed. The following morning a friend called him to offer congratulations. He asked why the president-elect had retired so early, and was informed, "I knew that my staying up would not alter the result if I were defeated, while if I was elected I had a hard day in front of me. So a night's rest seemed the best in either event."
