There is a popular movement toward better fitness and health. So, in our grocery stores we see labels on popular food items that say, "reduced cholesterol," or "less calories per ounce," or "more fiber per slice." On a few there is still the blunt declaration, "No Fat!" If that is not enough, we purchase pricey "home gymnasiums" so that we can tone our bodies while huffing and puffing through the evening news. A pair of shorts, a shirt and common sneakers are no longer good enough for a workout; their replacements are frightfully expensive, but declared necessary in preserving the body through its fling to fitness. Yet, no matter what we do, we are wasting away and we will surely die, even if successful in prolonging our physical life. But because we are an Easter people and Resurrection to life is the crux of our faith, we are renewing an eternal body that will rise with Jesus on the last day. -- Fairlie
