There was a young boy...

There was a young boy who was very afraid of the dark. His fear was so extreme that he wouldn't walk into the bathroom without the light being on. One day, his older brother was entertaining some friends. These friends had heard about the younger brother's fear. When they asked the older brother about it, he denied that his younger brother was afraid of the dark. "Let's see!" said one of the friends, and with that, the boys grabbed the younger brother and locked him in a bedroom closet.
At first, the younger brother was frantic to get out. But as his eyes adjusted to the dark he could see a ray of light coming through a small hole in the wall. This small ray of light calmed the boy and soon he grew quiet. After twenty minutes or so the older boys let him out and the younger boy emerged completely calm. Convinced that he wasn't afraid of the dark the older boys left the younger brother alone.
Later that day the older brother asked him what happened and the younger brother told him about the ray of light in the closet and how seeing that light had calmed him. Wanting to see this light himself the older brother went into the closet, but for him it was completely dark; the small hole in the wall could not be found. Was the light real or imagined? No one knows, but the younger brother was never afraid of the dark again.
