They call it "imaging." Whether it is the golfer putting into his mind exactly what his swing will feel like and where the ball will go even before he puts his club into motion, or whether it is the salesman imagining how smoothly he will talk and how receptive this contact will be even before he opens the door, the concept is the same: the human mind has an amazing ability to focus our energies. Once the target is set through a clearly visualized picture, the body fills in all the details necessary to accomplish that goal. Failure comes when we allow alternative "what if" pictures to intrude. Instead of a clear picture set on our goal, the focus blurs, shifting to one of our fears, and our body finds it just as easy to fill in the details of failure as it does of success.
