Those who were closest...

Those who were closest to Christ were yet limited in their knowledge of him. Even when they enlisted his help in a crisis, awe-struck, they wondered, "Who is this?"
On the other hand, actions do speak louder than words. Jesus could have told them that he was one with the sea, could control its temperament; and they would have nodded in numb agreement. But, to calm the sea before their very eyes raised the question, "Who are you, really?" It is what we witness and experience that helps us believe.
Mark records in cursive fashion the many deeds that Jesus did. He eagerly wrote down these miracles, eighteen of them, testimonies to what Jesus did for and with his fellows.
Mark is not lauded for his literary abilities. (Many of us aren't.) However, there are yet stormy seas to calm; and many seafaring persons tempest-tossed. Mark's example is that we simply tell others about the Master of the seas.
