Tim loved to rummage through...

Tim loved to rummage through the wastebaskets, against his mother's wishes. "It just creates more of a mess. No good can come out of it," she would say to him and hustle him off to another room. But Tim could see things that others could not. One day he found some paper that had been written on both sides. His mother had tossed them, since they were no good even for writing notes on the back side, like she would do with other scrap paper. Carefully, with the precision of an architect, Tim folded the paper this way, then that way. He took each sheet and with different folds, created different designs. When he was done, he went upstairs, opened the window and let fly five new silent, streamlined paper airplanes that floated with loops and sweeping curves to the lawn below. In Tim's hands, that which was old and discarded became a new creation to his joy and for his delight.
