Todd White gathered up the five sixth-grade campers in his cabin and they set off into the woods of Minnesota for an overnight under the stars. The six of them had a great time around the campfire, making hot dogs and s'mores and telling ghost stories. Everything seemed fine as they crawled into their sleeping bags for the night.
But a few hours later, with the fire almost out, all six woke up with a start as one of the boys, with a particularly sensitive stomach, threw up his hot dogs and marshmallows all over everyone's sleeping bags. The smell was so bad that three more of the boys lost their dinners, too.
For the next hour, Todd and his charges did their best to clean up and go back to sleep, but it was hopeless. The smell was sickening. So, for the rest of the night, everyone huddled around a fire reduced to embers, and tried to keep warm. Todd tried to keep up the spirits of his campers by saying: "Just think about the hot showers and the pancakes we'll have back at the camp. Just keep your minds fixed on things there, not things here."
