The top box office movie...

The top box office movie of all time is the 1982 film E.T., with E.T. standing for extra-terrestrial. E.T. is the story of a small space creature who was accidentally left behind here on earth by his fellow space creatures. This E.T. was left to be an alien, a stranger, in a land that was strange to him. After a while, living in the strange environment of earth takes its toll on E.T., and he draws near to the brink of death. Finally though, E.T. attracts a group of children who go with him and help him until he is reunited with the spacecraft that will take him home. His life is restored as he begins the journey home. In many ways, the story of E.T. is also our story. As Christians, we face a life in which we struggle to go home. And though the world tries to divert our attention in many different directions, Christ beckons us to keep our sight fixed on our true homeland, the heavenly homeland that we will one day share with Christ. -- Bowen
