A truly incredible story surfaced...

A truly incredible story surfaced in the news a few months ago. It seems an 82-year-old grandmother was arrested and pleaded guilty to selling drugs to kids in her neighborhood. The images just did not go together. Most of us are fortunate to have happy memories of our grandparents. To envision a grandmother stealing a child's future and self-esteem with drugs goes against all good sense. It is tragic to see drug dealers and other losers pulling others down to their level by enticing them into self-destructive behaviors. Then, on top of everything else, when they are successful in gaining a new convert to this demeaning lifestyle, they wallow in their "victory." For the drug dealers like the 82-
year-old grandmother the victory is a hollow one. Most of their customers die way before their time. Maybe that is why Jesus uses such strong language in Mark 9 about those who cause a follower to sin. -- Thompson
