From the very beginning, Jesus was teaching us to call God "Father." God wants us to call him "Dad." There's a great lesson in this. Your earthly father might be some kind of important man in the world. He might be a CEO in a major corporation. He might wield lots of earthly power. He might have doctoral degrees so that people call him Doctor. He might be a general in the army. He might even be the President of the United States. But when his children come up to him and need something, they always call him Dad. That's a very privileged thing. Nobody else has the kind of accessibility that a son or a daughter has. That's the kind of privilege you have with God. That's the kind of accessibility you have with God. -- Riether
