Vince Wogman of Chehalis, Washington, wrote Dear Abby on December 23, 1996, to tell how he handled a neighbor who always parked in front of his house. One weekend, he brought home a truck from his company and parked it in front of his neighbor's car. Then he took his station wagon out of his garage and parked it directly behind the car. When his neighbor rang the doorbell about 8 p.m. that evening asking that one of the vehicles be moved, Wogman said, "Sure thing, I'll be right out as soon as I get my shoes on." But he continued to watch television for another hour and half before he finally put his shoes on and went out to move the pickup. The neighbor was so upset he never parked there again.
Wogman probably thought he was pretty clever, pretty sharp, in the way he handled the annoyance caused by his neighbor. However, we can be rather certain that he never enjoyed a close relationship with that neighbor therafter. We Christians are not to use our wisdom to teach others a lesson or to put them in their place. We are to use our wisdom, our ingenuity, to work for peace with others.
