We have a teenage son...

We have a teenage son. Recently I overheard my wife sharing a story with a friend about him. It seems that she had returned from the grocery store heavily burdened by bags. As our son heard her arrive in the driveway, he very thoughtfully emerged from the house to discover her struggling with the weight of our groceries and offered his assistance. There were many bags available for his carrying. Some were filled with heavy items like soft drinks, milk, and juice. Others were packed with less challenging fare like paper products and bread. As he inventoried potential burdens for his labor, he carefully chose to bear the lighter packages. His mother vividly described the change in her mood as the thoughtfulness first evident in his coming to assist turned to thoughtlessness in selection of the burden.
