What makes Jesus different? What qualified him to solely lead us to God? Note the
following. Not one of the billions who occupy this planet will get off alive. Cemeteries
haunt every town. Death imprisons all.
The Stoic and Epicurean Greek philosophers concluded that we are helpless to change our situation and devised teachings to make life less painful. Those Greeks admitted defeat, but wanted to proudly meet death.
When Buddha faced the same dilemma, he taught that people should meditate into nothingness. Mary Baker Eddy tried to convince her followers that death isn't real -- only an illusion. Her body, or its illusion, is buried in Boston. Many foolishly consider death a peaceful transition.
Jesus practiced no mental gymnastics about death. He treated it as a real, but unremitting enemy. The Savior allowed himself to be subjected to cruel, painful mockery and died in the presence of scornful witnesses. When a soldier pierced his corpse, blood and water flowed from the wound. Three days later, Jesus proved that he was alive again.
Persuaded that Jesus was a fake, Saul examined the evidence. What he found made him a powerful witness to Jesus' resurrection. The fact that Jesus came back from the dead to appear before 500 witnesses at one time helped to convince the skeptic Saul. Jesus is unlike any other. If we change our lifestyle and honor God through Christ, we'll share in his resurrection. Have you been reborn to participate in this great event?
