When Jacob got a promise...

When Jacob got a promise of God's presence and protection, he could not have known how much he'd need that assurance. There were tough times ahead for him, not least of which was a scary encounter with his wronged older brother. Assurance is what we all crave in scary situations.
Louis Mountbatten, later to become a military hero for England, knew such fear as a boy. As a five-year-old, he was afraid of the dark and didn't like going to bed with the lights off. When his father asked him what exactly he was afraid of, the lad said, "It isn't the dark. There are wolves up there in my bedroom." His father smiled and said, "There are no wolves in this house." The child replied, "Oh, I know there aren't, really. But the trouble is, I still feel that there are."
