When John Kennedy ran for president in 1960, he went to West Virginia to campaign
with his wife, Jacqueline. Jacque-line was known for her fashionable clothes and
sophisticated ways. People wondered how she'd do in West Virginia.
An older man there wanted to meet her but couldn't leave his home where he cared for his invalid wife. Jacqueline went to their home. The man was overwhelmed and said that he now believed in Santa Claus and that Jacqueline looked like a real queen.
If Jacqueline Kennedy was perceived as a queen for visiting people who were too disabled to come hear a candidate speak, how much more is Jesus who humbled himself not only to take the form of a servant, but who at his last supper with his disciples washed their feet?
