When we hear the word...

When we hear the word witness our minds automatically think of a courtroom and of one who promises to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And when we think about witnessing for Christ, we get the picture of someone speaking of great revelations or delivering some kind of sermon or homily. For many, public speaking is a terrifying ordeal. But there is another way to witness.
When newspaper reporter H. M. Stanley had finally found missionary Dr. David Livingstone in Africa, Stanley related an interesting observation. Said Stanley, "If I had been with him any longer, I would have been compelled to become a Christian and he never spoke one word of it to me."
Words are important. But perhaps there is no greater witness than the kind of life a person chooses to live.
