While attending a conference, I unexpectedly came face to face with a person who had severely wronged me in the past. Surprisingly, he greeted me warmly, joked about my gaining weight and wished me well. I am still baffled by this encounter. Several years ago, his actions caused me significant hardship. Was it right now to be friendly with him? Do I just forget the past? Should I extend the hand of friendship? If I forgive him, does he fail to pay a penalty for his irresponsible actions?
