The wise men presented gold...
Illustration
The wise men presented gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus. Gold was a reminder of
his kingship, frankincense symbolized holiness, and myrrh symbolized the suffering our
Lord would endure.
With thanksgiving we remember, Gracious Lord,
That one of the gifts brought to Jesus was frankincense;
A reminder of holiness,
A reminder of a pure life,
A reminder that we are all called
To a life of purity and holiness.
Your call is not to holiness that
Isolates us from being in touch with the world
Or the needs of others.
Your purity is a call to Christ-centered caring,
A call to lifting and loving.
Lord make us more holy.
In the strong name of Jesus, we pray. Amen!
