The worldly Ornar Khayyam, mystic...

The worldly Ornar Khayyam, mystic of the East, writes in the Rubaiyat:
I sent my soul through the invisible
Time letter of that After Life to spell
And by and by soul returned to me
And answered, 'I myself am heaven and hell....
Heaven but the vision of ful-filled desire
Hell the shadow of a soul on fire.'
This view of the ultimate end of existence could have been written by Albert Carnus who claimed that hell is other people.
It is called secular existentialism. Life is simply the business of existing, of keeping alive. And after that The Dark.
John walks in a different world. Here it is yet imperfect but he who rested on the bosom of the Lord speaks of what the Master said and what he promised. The end will be a beginning, "Now, we see through a glass darkly," as Paul says, "But one day all will be disclosed and we shall be like him because we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope purifies himself as Christ is pure."
