A year ago I faced the possibility of one of the worst things that can come to anyone -- the loss of my eyesight. At least, I thought that was the situation. Even though I could see all right in one eye, the sight in the other one was very limited. It seemed that a veil had gradually come down over the eye -- just like the curtain in a theater. I tried to see things through the veil, but it was too thick.
The eye specialist assured me that he could help with surgery, even though it would not be a complete recovery. I dislike hospitals, and especially going through surgery, but there was no choice. During the days following surgery, it seemed as if there was little rnprovement, since I was wearing a patch over the eye, and using several kinds of eye drops. I was dissappointed when the patch was removed by the doctor, since I could not see as well as I had hoped. However, as the days progressed I discovered that my sight was constantly improving and the veil was disappearing. I'm thankful now that my eyesight is 80 percent normal in that eye.
Paul reminds us that the Holy Spirit lifts the spiritual veil from us and we can see the glory of God.
