"In the year that King Uzziah died. I saw the Lord." Isaiah likely had gone alone to the
temple to pray when he saw this vision of the glorified God. In the vision, God appears
and a cleansing for Isaiah comes from the altar. He then is challenged to go and share
God's message. "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" And Isaiah said, "Here am
I, send me!" (Isaiah 6:8).
The hymn writer, E. W. Blandy, catches the same spirit:
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
"Take thy cross and follow, follow me."
Where he leads me I will follow,
Where he leads me I will follow, ...
I'll go with him, with him all the way.
