For years Pastor Don had struggled with alcohol. It had kept him from his wife, his children, and at times his job. For all that time he had hidden it well. His congregation knew nothing about it and even his wife didn't know how serious Don's drinking was. Careful scheduling and late "meetings" covered his tracks for years. But when he became depressed and less able to hide his problem, it finally came out. Pastor Don was an alcoholic. Yet in that admission came the beginning of the transformation. It was a spiritual awakening for him, and in saying "no" to that which had taken control of his life in an ungodly way, Don, his family, and his ministry were healed and given new life.
