You are what you eat...

"You are what you eat," is a phrase that one hears from time to time. There is much truth here. Athletes know that, if they want to perform to maximum efficiency, they need proper fuel -- like a well-running machine needs. It is really too bad that the general populace doesn't know this truth. Or, if they know it they ignore it.
Many of us who have been in the ministry for a few years have seen several open-heart surgeries. Now, I am not a physician and cannot prove that eating lots of pork, greasy potatoes, and so on damages the heart; but it certainly appears that way. I remember my grandmother on the farm cooked that way; and I lost two uncles by the time they were forty-five, and my grandfather before he was seventy. Poor eating habits cause heart disease. Too many calories cause obesity, another health hazard that affects many pastors.
We need to examine what we take in for fuel. The body and blood of Christ will literally remake our own bodies and give us power for living.
