A young man who had just graduated from college was hired by a high school to teach English. As the school year was coming to an end, this young man was in the teacher's lounge. One of the teachers said to him, "How did you enjoy your first year of teaching?" "It was a good year," he replied. "I guess it was," replied the fellow teacher. "You didn't miss a single day of school this year, did you?" "No," replied the new teacher. "I guess I was pretty lucky and didn't get sick at all this year." "Well," replied the experienced teacher. "You should take a few days off. The school year is almost over and you haven't used any of your sick days." "But I haven't been sick," replied the new teacher. "It wouldn't be right for me to take off sick when I am not sick." "Don't worry about it," replied the older teacher. "Take the time off, everyone does it!" "I don't care what everyone does," replied the new teacher. "I am not everyone. I am a Christian." And how should a Christian behave? In our text, God speaks of a day when God's laws will be written on the hearts of people; a day when all people will know God; of a time when all will know God and the ways of God. On the day of Pentecost, God's Spirit was poured out on all people. God is not out there some where. He dwells within us. -- Frank
