Is your handwriting legible? Don't...

Is your handwriting legible? Don't worry if it isn't. One of the large universities has come
up with the theory that the worse the scrawl, the smarter you are. They found evidence
that if your thinking is a lot faster than your writing, the poor scrawl results. The Old
Testament lectionary scripture for Proper 24, Cycle C, talks about what is written on our
hearts. "I will put my law within them and I will write it on their hearts, I will be their
God, and they shall be my people" (Jeremiah 31:33). With God as the writer, we will see
writing in perfection. My handwriting is not very legible, but I pray that the writing of my
heart and life are in keeping with what God writes. A New Testament passage fits in here
-- 2 Corinthians 3:2: "You yourselves are our letter written on our hearts to be known and
read by all; and you show that you are a letter of Christ, prepared by us, written not with
ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on human
hearts."
