At a youth retreat, a conservation worker came and talked with our group about oxygen in water. Then we went to a stream where a test was done to determine how much oxygen was in the water of the stream. In this particular stream there was plenty of oxygen, so we started to turn over rocks in the water to see what we could find. It was amazing how many small creatures were there. We could say the water was living water since it was able to sustain life. In the passage from John, Jesus says that anyone who thirsts should come to him and drink. Then out of that person's heart will flow rivers of living water. He said this about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is here pictured like that oxygen in the water that sustains life. Through the Holy Spirit life is within us that can flow out to other with whom we come into contact.
