In this week’s epistle lesson, Paul encourages us to emulate “the generous act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.” What Paul has in mind is “a fair balance” between abundance and need -- in other words, to care for those who are often marginalized by society.
