All those blessings

Teachers: Paul launches this week's lesson with the statement
that Jesus blesses us with many things. The new year is a great
time to have students reflect on their individual blessings.
Give each student a sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 paper. The headline could state "Counting My Blessings In 1994." Have students place their names below the headline. Below their name have them write today's verse.
You might suggest some things to get this project started. Challenge students to list as many blessings they can. If your students are just beginning to write, have them draw pictures of their blessings. For students having a difficult time with this suggest the obvious: family, home, church, friends, pets and school. Don't forget to have students add "God's grace" as a blessing. This is mentioned in verse 6. As students leave for the day, suggest to them that they help their parents create a list of blessings, too.
Parents: With a new year underway, your child counted her blessings this week. She will suggest that you create your own list of blessings. Let your child help you compile your list. When it is finished compare your list with hers.
