Teachers: Today's lesson states that "Jesus was carried up
into heaven." Using this theme bring some helium-filled balloons
to class. Tell your students the story from Luke. Give each
student a small strip of paper, approximately 4 by 2 1/2-inches.
have each student write her name and church name on one side of
the paper. On the other side write your church name and
"Ascension Sunday celebration 1994!" Tape each of the student's
notes to the strings on the balloons. Take your class outdoors
and let the balloons be carried into the heavens, just as the
Bible tells about Jesus' ascension.
Parents: Today is Ascension Sunday. Try to purchase a helium- filled balloon during the week. Write a note on the string with your name and address. Write "Ascension Sunday celebration 1994!" on your note. Let your balloon be carried into the heavens, just as the Bible tells about Jesus' ascension.
