Object:
Teachers and Parents: The Gospel reading today telling of
the baptism of Jesus gives us a real opportunity to help our
children understand the importance of their own baptism.
* Show the children the church record book on baptisms. Show
the earliest records. If your church is quite old, some very old
ones will be of particular interest.
* Stage a mock baptism and explain what is done in the
baptism rite of your church.
* Tell stories of people who were baptized after a long
period of running away from God. Talk about how meaningful
baptism was to them.
* Read Matthew 28:19 and Mark 16:16 and discuss the meaning.

* Sing a baptism hymn from your hymnal.
