Good morning! I have kind of an unusual question for you
this morning. You may wonder why I would ask this question, but I
do have a reason, so I want you to give me some honest answers.
Here's the question. Can you give me some good reasons for
missing church on Sunday? (Let them answer.) Those are all
reasons that I have heard, and I've heard a lot of others.
(Relate some additional reasons people give for missing church.)
The Bible tells us that we should not neglect meeting
together. That doesn't mean that there are not good reasons why
you might have to miss church. Some of the reasons for missing
that we have talked about are certainly good reasons, but it does
mean that we should be sure that there is a good reason for
missing and that we certainly shouldn't get in the habit of
missing like some people do. Do all of you want to be in church
every Sunday? (Let them answer.) I surely hope you do because
that's what God wants us to do. If we meet together, we can
worship God and we can encourage one another. If we don't meet
together, we can't do that.
Let's ask God to help us be in church every Sunday.
Dear Father in Heaven: We thank You for all that You do for us.
Help us to be grateful children who come to church every Sunday
to give You thanks and encourage one another. Amen.
