"Get on the right plane!"
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: This parable about the rich man and
Lazarus can be used to show our children that being right with
God is much more important than all the riches in the world. Are
they following the path that leads them to Heaven or the one that
leads them to Hell?
*Put up a big road map of the United States. Ask someone to
pick a city that they would like to visit. Show them that city on
the map and point out where your own city is located. Now ask
them to trace out the route they would take to get to the city
they want to visit.
After they have done this, trace out a route that gets them
to another city and ask them why this route didn't get to the
desired location like the first one did.
After it is clear to all that we must take the right road to
get to the city we want to visit, discuss how this is also true
in our life. If our destination is Heaven, we must select and
stay on the right road. If we don't, we will reach the wrong
destination -- Hell!
Then, you can talk with them about the things we do in life
that keep us on the right road to Heaven. You may want to list
these kinds of things on the board or an easel.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Select a hymn from your hymnal which illustrates how we
need God's guidance to follow the right path to heaven. "Jesus,
Savior, Pilot Me" would be a good example.
