How Much is Your Soul Worth?
Children's sermon
Object:
Keys to a car and a money bag with a sign $1,000,000.00
What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Good morning boys and girls and how are you on this beautiful Sunday morning? (Let them answer.) Wonderful! I feel terrific myself and I am on a search. I am trying to find some souls. One would be all right but I would like to pick up two or three if I could. Is there anyone here that would give me their soul? (Let them answer.) How many of you have a soul? (Let them answer.) All of you have a soul but none of you will give it to me, is that right? (Let them answer.)
I think I can change your mind. I brought along some things that I will trade for your soul. Let’s see, I have a set of keys to a brand new car. It is a beautiful red car with black leather seats and a convertible top. It will go 150 miles an hour and stop on a dime. How many would trade me their soul for this car? (Let them answer)
Maybe you would like this better. I have a bag here that is stuffed with money. The sign says there is $1,000,000.00 in it. Who would trade me their soul for a $1,000,000.00? (Let them answer.)
What do you think your soul is worth? (Let them answer.) You don’t know and neither do I but I know that it is worth more than anything in the world. Do you know why I know that it is worth so much? (Let them answer)
Your soul and my soul touch the soul of God. Jesus says so. He tells us that our souls, that is the spirit of life that God gives us, is in touch with God at all times. We lose our soul and we lose God. So your soul is the most valuable thing that you have and we all pray that we never lose it or give it away. Amen.
