The people puzzle
Children's sermon
Object:
a puzzle
I enjoy working on puzzles. They challenge me to take pieces
and make them into one complete picture. This is always fun
except for one thing. Do you know what makes it no fun for me?
It's when there is a piece missing! That aggravates me.
Today we read about Jesus saying a prayer and the prayer is for us! It is a prayer for you and me. In this prayer Jesus asks that all his people -- like you and me -- will be one.
Does that mean we are all alike? NOT AT ALL! We are all different. Some of us have dark hair and others have light hair. Some of us are girls and some are boys. Some of us are short and others are taller. We are all different -- just like the pieces of the puzzle are different. God made us different so that the world would be interesting and fun. I am so thankful for the differences in this world and that we are all so very much different.
When Jesus prayed that we might all be one, he was praying that all the pieces might be there. If there are pieces missing, the puzzle is not as good as it would be otherwise. We are all important to God. It is also important that we get along and not fight with each other.
Thank you for helping me with this. Jesus wants each of us because every one is important -- just like every piece of a puzzle is important.
