Remember to say thanks
Children's sermon
Object:
a Thank You card
Good morning! Have you ever seen one of these? (Show the
card and let them answer.) This is a Thank You card. When
somebody gives us a gift or does something nice for us, it is a
good thing to send them one of these cards to thank them for
whatever they did. Have any of you ever sent one of these? (Let
them answer.)
Why are we all here in church on a Thursday? (Let them
answer.) Yes, today is Thanksgiving Day, and on this day we thank
God for all that He gives us. Can we send God a Thank You card?
(Let them answer.) No, God doesn't have a post office box, but
there are ways we can thank God for all the blessings He gives
us. Can you tell me how we can thank God? (Let them answer.) Yes,
those are all good ways to thank God, and I hope you will all
thank Him in as many ways as you can.
Once Jesus cured ten men who had leprosy, and only one of
them came back to thank him. We don't want to be like those nine
guys who were cured of a horrible disease and couldn't even say
thanks, do we? (Let them answer.) No, we don't, so let's thank
God right now for all the blessings that He gives us.
Dear Father in Heaven: We want to thank You for all the blessings
that we have. We thank You for our families, our homes, our food,
our church, and all the other blessings that You give to us.
Amen.
