Where's That Missing Piece?
Children's sermon
Null
Object:
Box of Legos (and a very special Lego piece)
How many of you like to play with Legos? Do you have any special Legos that you would hate to lose? Just imagine you are playing one day and there is one piece that you need to complete what you are making and it is missing! You really want that one piece and you search an hour for it! Yes, it is only one piece but it means so much to you.
That is what our Bible lesson speaks about in Luke 15:8:
"Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it."
It is worth it to her to search and search for it.
Do you get excited when you discover the one Lego piece? Did the woman get excited to find her coin? Yes, there is great joy! But how much more when we are not just looking for things but when we are talking about people. You see, often people are lost. They have lost their way from God. Yet they are very valuable to God and God goes to great measures to find them... even if it is just one person.
How Do We Apply This to Our Life?
Maybe you have a friend or family member that has walked away from God or a person you know that could care less about God. God still cares about them and we should too, even if it is one person or one neighbor. We need to be sure we don't give up on people. It says in Luke 15:10:
"In the same way, I tell you there is rejoicing in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents."
Remember finding that missing piece is all worth it!
Let us Pray,
Dear God, Thank you for all you do for us. We will do our best to help others to know your love. Amen.
