Who is my neighbor?

Good morning! The Bible tells us that we should love our
neighbors. And it says we should not only love them, but also we
should love them as much as we love ourselves. Do you love
yourself? (Let them answer.) Well, you do take care of yourself.
You feed yourself and do all kinds of things for yourself, so I
think we can say that we all love ourselves.
But, who are these neighbors that we are supposed to love?
Do all of you have neighbors? Tell me about some of your
neighbors. (Let them describe who they think of as their
neighbors.) Yes, those people are your neighbors, but I have some
pictures here of some more of your neighbors. (Show them the
pictures.) Do you all recognize these neighbors? (Let them
answer.) I know you don't know them personally, but all these
people are our neighbors. When the Bible tells us to love our
neighbors, it means we should love all the people of the world,
even though they live far away and we have never met them.
Our church knows that all the people of the world are
neighbors, and we do try to help people who live far away.
(Describe some mission projects of your church.) Is there
anything that you can do to help with this work we are doing to
help neighbors in other countries? (Let them answer.) One thing
we can all do is pray for them. We can ask God to help our
neighbors all over the world. Let's do that now.
Dear Father in Heaven: We know that all the people of the world
are our neighbors, and we want to help our neighbors as much as
we can. Please bless all people who are in need and give them
whatever they need. Most of all bless them with your holy Word so
that they can come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Amen.
