Worth Waiting For!

Many objects faced upside down (a book, a box of cereal, a picture)
Can anyone tell me what all of these items have in common? (give a chance to respond) They are all upside down! When Jesus spoke to people sometimes it seemed upside down to what they were used to hearing. For example, one day Jesus sat down with the people on a mountainside and told them they were "blessed" to be insulted, lied about and persecuted for being a follower of Jesus. Normally we would not think that to be good. It seems upside down to us. But it is a great thing because God will reward us in heaven, and that makes it all worth it.
Then in Mathew 5:4 it tells us again that we are blessed or God will do good things for us if we are sad and crying. How could that be? Jesus explains that is when we receive God's comfort, his big hug. Yes, it does seem upside down to us and to how most people might see it. But God is able to bring good things out of hard things. We may not feel like we're instantly "blessed." We may not receive it until heaven and that could be a long time. Most of us are too impatient to wait that long. We would rather have instant happiness. But God's goodness to us is out of this world and so much better and worth waiting for.
His blessings and goodness are available to us in many ways -- often ways that we don't see or feel.
How do we apply this to our lives?
Are you ready to receive God's goodness? You may need to think upside down. Being nice to those who are mean to you may not seem like the normal thing to do, but it is how Jesus wants us to live. God's ways are best and are worth waiting for.
