Has anyone ever told you, "You look just like your father or just like your mother?" You can't hide it.
Once there was a pastor that had a son and as the years passed the son began to look more and more like his father and even laughed and sounded like his dad. The father died but having his son there, you almost felt like the father was there himself.
Our story today is like this but even better. It says,
"Mary, the virgin, would be with child and would give birth to a son and they would call him Immanuel, which means God with us."
This is really important so listen carefully. When Jesus came to our earth, he wasn't just a look alike. The bible says it was God with us. Jesus wasn't just a good man but he was actually God. How amazing that our God would be so willing and humble to do such a thing. It makes what he did for us mean so much more. It doesn't just say it in one place in the Bible but repeats this same thing in John 1:1.
God is with us! He is our Emmanuel and we can know Him personally -- WOW!!
How do we apply this to our lives?
You may not have realized the amount of love God has had for you. Be sure this Christmas to tell God how grateful you are for his willingness to come into our world -- even though he is the God of all creation.
