The author of Hebrews quotes...

The author of Hebrews quotes Psalm 40 in our passage. The psalm celebrates Christ's obedient submission to the Lord God in coming to the earth in human flesh. During Advent, Heaven and Earth join in a duet of praise to the newborn Christ Child. I've tried to express my feelings of wonder and awe in the following poetry:
A Gleam in December's Night
A gleam of light in December's night
In Advent's chill month we sit
and wait for Christmas angels from
heaven above to take their night
flight to shivering shepherds huddled below!
Angels of the chill December night
praising God from whom all blessings flow
Wise women and men seeking the
Bethlehem star's refulgent glow;
Mary and Joseph in quest of shelter
from Judean night so that Madonna
might give birth to the Savior
Christ the Lord who is and ever
will be the eternal light.
A Gleam of December light to
burn and flare with love is
ours when we come with our gifts
and bow in faith and love before
the Christ of Advent who comes
to us each day with love and hope
to guide us on our earthly way!
