The bride was from Pakistan...

The bride was from Pakistan, and the groom from India. They told the pastor about certain customs they wished to include on their wedding day, the Saturday after Christmas. Among them was "two lovebirds." Anita had already worked out the details. She would buy the birds from a pet store and have them in a beautiful golden cage. The minister agreed that the birds could be on the table in front of the pulpit where all could see them. Then the minister had an inspiration. Remembering that Joseph and Mary took two turtle doves to the temple for a purification sacrifice, he asked the bride if she would leave the turtle doves for the worship service the following morning. She readily agreed. The congregation never forgot that Christmas when the service was enhanced by the cooing of the turtle doves. Christmas: a bride and groom pledging their love to each other. Christmas: turtle doves cooing their love to each other. Christmas: God sending us his love in Jesus Christ!
