The commandment of Jesus to...

The commandment of Jesus to the disciples was, "Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19 TEV) It seems, however that many Christians are more interested in baptizing converts in the name of "denominationalism" than in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; if one is to judge by all of the infighting among denominations.
Before Cuba fell into the communist bloc, there was intense rivalry on the island between those of different faiths. In the eyes of some, this bitterness, among those who profess to be Christians, has turned many away from the church. As one priest in central Cuba said, "There are many people in the province who have listened to the false gospel of division and are persuaded that the Church cannot offer them the peace that they need so badly."
The church is ill served by those who claim to worship the Prince of Peace, but sow discord and hatred. We should heed the words of the Master: "Have the salt of friendship among yourselves, and live in peace with one another." (Mark 9:50 TEV)
