The contemporary church is not...

The contemporary church is not exempt from the storms of life. In these times of fast-paced change, church people often look to the church simply to confirm what they already believe. We don't always look to the church for change and innovation. We simply want the church to make us feel good when we feel bad. We don't especially look to the church for moral leadership. Instead, we seem to be making up our own minds about what we believe and how we will live. Unfortunately, people do not always know what is best for them. People do not always make decisions that are in their own best self-interest. It is proper for the church to offer moral guidance because so much of the society in which we live is amoral and is unable to provide good role models for people to emulate.
